Costuming can be used to reflect subtle parts of a characters psyche and personality, can foreshadow that which is to come in a narrative or nod to the source material in subtle, clever ways.
For me, putting on tights and a cape from the dress-up box was only the beginning.

As a child I would dig through an enormous plastic Myer’s bag filled with hand me down fairy skirts, dance costumes and hand-made dinosaur wings and let my imagination take over.
My fascination with donning the armour of another and becoming them in the moment has grown with me. In my early teens I attended my first pop-culture convention as Sailor Moon, painted yo-yos in my hair, an old netball skirt and gold moons taped to my boots.










Nowadays, I’ve been sewing for more original concepts, ideas sparked by small phrases like ‘Moss Druid’ or ‘Modern Mothman’. Every project I learn something new or find a way to improve.
